Alfie & George Cupboards is proudly named after two family members who served in World War II, and their values continue to inspire everything we do today. Integrity, craftsmanship, hard work and doing things properly are at the heart of our business.
Based in Norwich, England, we are an independent workshop specialising in handmade bespoke kitchen cupboards. We take a straightforward, no-nonsense approach to manufacturing, focusing on exceptional quality, honest service and beautifully crafted products that are built to last.
For more than 25 years, we have been designing and crafting bespoke kitchens for customers across Norfolk and beyond. In 2017, we launched Alfie & George Cupboards to bring our passion for traditional craftsmanship, premium materials and timeless design to homeowners nationwide through our supply-only service.
Every cupboard we produce is handcrafted to order in our workshop using traditional cabinet-making techniques that have stood the test of time. Our shaker-style kitchen cupboards are designed to combine classic aesthetics with outstanding durability and everyday practicality.
Unlike many mass-produced alternatives, our cupboards are built using solid redwood carcasses, providing exceptional strength and stability. Door frames and drawer fronts are crafted from premium hardwood tulipwood, chosen for its durability and smooth painted finish. Traditional dovetail joints and mortise and tenon construction are used throughout to ensure every cupboard and drawer box is built to the highest standard.
To achieve a long-lasting painted finish, the only MDF used within our cupboards is in the centre door panels. This moisture-resistant solution helps minimise movement within the timber and significantly reduces the risk of paint cracking, meeting modern industry standards while maintaining the character and quality of a traditionally crafted kitchen.
We also offer a free kitchen design service, helping customers create bespoke kitchen cupboard layouts tailored to their space, lifestyle and individual requirements. From custom sizes and storage solutions to unique design details, every project is approached with care and attention.

At our company, we understand that the world of Bespoke kitchens can be quite expensive. That's why we strive to provide you with the highest quality cupboards while also accommodating your budget. We offer fully assembled cupboards that are water-sealed and ready for undercoating. By taking on some of the tasks yourself, you can achieve your dream kitchen at a fraction of the cost. Many of our customers choose to paint their own kitchen, while others opt for the help of a tradesman. As for worktops, appliances, sinks, and taps, we recommend finding these items online as they are far more affordable than purchasing them as part of a full kitchen package.
Free Designs
If you're struggling with designing your kitchen, don't worry. Our expert CAD team is here to assist you. Simply provide us with a rough aerial sketch of your room and a general idea of where you'd like your cupboards placed. Alternatively, you can email us an annotated architectural drawing or a copy of a competitor's design and we will do the rest. Best of all, our design service is completely free of charge!
